Spanish Blue is an album yesteryear bassist Ron Carter recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's Studio inward New Bailiwick of Jersey inward 1974 in addition to released on the CTI label. Interesting concept amongst expert solos yesteryear Carter in addition to Hubert Laws (fl). All Music.
This is a slice of art. All Ron Carter's CDs are 5 Stars, but this 1 I could easily laissez passer it seven Stars. This is my starting fourth dimension Jazz LP that I bought inward 1982, in addition to inward 1990 I hurried to purchase the CD every bit it is my #1 inward my over 2000 carefully chosen CDs.
The CD recorded inward 1975 contains 4 tunes, iii composed yesteryear Ron Carter in addition to So What? yesteryear Miles Davis: 2 are spanish (El Noche Sol - Sabado Sombrero), 2 forthwith Jazz (So What? - Arkansas).
All musicians had given their best, specially amongst Ron around, they all play differently.
On Piano: Roland Hanna!!!, Flute: Hubert Laws, Bass: Ron Carter, Guitar: Jay Berliner, Drums: Billy Cobham, Percussion: Ralph McDonald. Don't Miss this outstanding CD. By Imad Tawil
Ron Carter's offering hither is a corporation plan that has 2 Spanish-flavored numbers in addition to 2 traditional jazz compositions that characteristic v top-caliber musicians at their best. "El Noche Sol" is influenced yesteryear Anadalucian folk music, every bit is the slower, soulful "Sabado Sombrero". Hubert Laws on flute is prominent on all 4 tracks in addition to a highlight on the CD is the nifty solo run yesteryear drummer Billy Cobham on "So What". The terminal track, "Arkansas", in addition to hence named for a child's homework project, closes out the album. The CD would convey benefitted from the inclusion of a few to a greater extent than numbers but the music is enjoyable in addition to illustrates the group's versatility inward interpreting music forms unlike from what they were accustomed to playing. There's incredible talent on this record. I convey ever loved Sabado sombrero, in addition to Ron Carter in addition to Hubert Laws - good all of the musicians are but giving their all to a really difficult piece. Wish I could larn a CD. By Curtis S. Cone
70′s fusion-esque album yesteryear Ron Carter. It’s has a definite Jazz focus, but it besides has a latin audio to it. The argue why I personally wouldn’t set it inward the fusion category is because the instrumentation is pretty standard. Although this is Ron Carter’s album, it has a lot of fantabulous flute yesteryear the cracking Hubert Laws, which pretty much steers the album. This album is but a blip for Ron Carter, who has said to look on over 2,500 albums, which is 1 of the virtually astonishing facts inward all of music. This goes to exhibit that Bassists are ever inward need, ever convey work, in addition to are the backbone of music.
