Naniwa Express (ナニワエã‚スプレス) was a Japanese jazz fusion grouping active from 1977 to 1986. According to The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz it was "one of the virtually successful jazz fusion bands inward Japan". The grouping was founded past times Ko Shimizu together with Kazuhiko Iwami, alongside Kiyoshi Kamada on drums inward the early on years; Kenji Nakamura joined inward 1978. The grouping traveled to the USA inward 1979 together with returned inward 1980; Rikiya Higashihara together with Makoto Aoyagi joined inward 1981. The grouping made its outset recordings for CBS/Sony inward 1982, together with continued recording until its dissolution inward 1986. Limited reunion touring together with recording occurred inward the 2000s.
