Listeners who abhor the audio of electronics would best avoid this date, but inside its genre Heads Up is a superior effort.
"Heads-Up" was the follow upwardly recording to "Master Plan. Influenza A virus subtype H5N1 lot had changed for Dave, every bit he had lately moved to California.
This tape was the commencement recording completed inward his habitation studio. Like all the GRP-era recordings, "Heads Up" was a "project record," amongst no ring concept inward mind. Jay Oliver together with Dave used the figurer quite a chip for composition together with production, together with most of the bass on this tape was programmed.
However, Jimmy Earl made an appearance on a few tunes, every bit good every bit Gary Novak (the drummer!) too playing bass on a melody Dave co-wrote amongst him!
I idea that this was a peachy cd for al drumers that desire to postulate heed closed to seriously practiced druming. Weckl shows off his awsome chops inward his solos, together with weavs intricate beats that jibe perfectly amongst the groove. I got bored of the backup music together with wanted to postulate heed to a greater extent than weckl well-nigh imediatly. I would rather accept less synth also, but that's but me. I wouldn't top this 1 up.
Dave Weckl is a fantastic drummer together with he actually shines on this CD. The recording character is peachy the drums are mixed "out-front." Dave has peachy chops!
